Taking a learning cycle approach
In developing activity sets to support Learning for Sustainability, we also try to consider how they might sit within the following Learning Cycle:

Although activities may be designed to highlight a particular stage in the learning cycle, most of them will cover one or more other stage. For example, in order to make links pupils have to have to have some relevant knowledge; in order to take action they must have relevant knowledge and see the links, i.e. understand why and how action is important.
