Preparation:
This activity is designed for pupils who have already developed some understanding of the causes and consequences of global warming. Teachers need to think about the range of techniques that are used to communicate a persuasive message e.g. Logical argument, fact, fear, humour, glamour, conformity.
Resources needed:
Digital video cameras or computers and cartoon making software.
Procedure:
1.Explain that pupils are to plan a short video, cartoon or play about global warming. Ask the pupils to make brief notes about the message and techniques used in one or more of the following videos:

2.Ask them to use storyboards to plan their own piece of work about global warming.
3.Ask each group to describe their plans.
Extensions:
Make the video, cartoon or play and present it to an audience. Collect feedback from the audience.
Evaluation:
Pupils discuss the following questions in pairs:
“What are the main messages that people need to know about climate change?”
“How did I try to communicate these messages in my work?”
“How successful was I?”
“What should I do next?”
Make a comment
