A framework for school sustainability
Pathways: A development framework for school sustainability is a practical guide for schools who want to develop good practice through Education for sustainable development (ESD) and Learning for Sustainability It offers a series of activities and tools designed to help school communities to:
- explore the processes and practices that support a whole school approach to ESD/Learning for Sustainability;
- take stock of what has come before and what others have learned;
- identify what they want to achieve, how to get there, how to monitor and evaluate their progress, and how to apply their learning to future endeavours;
- increase their capacity and motivation to engage in ESD/Learning for Sustainability and enhance all aspects of school performance.
It includes a school self-assessment activity with a behaviourally-anchored rating scale to help schools identify successes and opportunities for improvement.
Pathways will be of help to any professional working in or with schools, who is interested in promoting good practice and in exploring how schools can ‘practise what they teach’ in terms of sustainability:
