Drawing on SBU’s dual expertise in business and sustainability, we help these companies consider how improvements in sustainability can build long-term value creation, for shareholders and for the planet and its people.
Through building strategic, long-term partnerships with business, SBU can provide:

- Constructive advice on turning sustainability challenges, such as climate change, into opportunities for business innovation and market leadership

By working at an industry sector level the Sustainable Business Unit can help change the market conditions and affect the overall sustainability business case. But only by working with individual businesses can we understand their constraints and opportunities and ensure the change is real and delivered.
Carefully selected partners becoming more successful by adopting sustainable practices is beneficial, both to the company and to the achievement of WWF’s environmental protection objectives.
What are sustainable practices and how does SBU help?
SBU will undertake a thorough understanding of the company and develop some bespoke sustainability challenges. These challenges will most likely be built on the following sustainability practices:
- Commitment to understanding, learning and improvement
- Improving transparency - reporting and stakeholder engagement
- Climate change action– Emissions, Power use and efficiency
- Water use action – recycling, reducing
- Efficient Resource use – reducing material demands and converting to renewable sources
- Eliminating other emissions and pollutions: including waste, packaging
- Full lifecycle ownership - products and services and how the customer uses them and disposes of them
- Supply chain management – managing suppliers all down the value chain
