The purpose of SCPnet is threefold:
• to promote the effective use of better evidence in designing policies that support sustainable consumption and production
• to identify evidential gaps and develop further information, tools and approaches to support evidence-based policy
• to assess progress in promoting sustainable consumption and production in the sponsoring regions
SCPnet has a management board that involves all the programme partners. The management board meets twice a year and is chaired by Graham Tubb, Head of Sustainable Development at SEEDA.
SCPnet’s smaller management executive meets more frequently. The current members of the management executive are:

SCPnet's Co-ordinator is the first point of contact for all
enquiries. The co-ordinator is responsible for connecting the activities of SCPnet such as:
- Ensuring knowledge sharing and linking up on SCP for the Regions through SCPnet
- Promoting and co-ordinating monitoring of regional performance on SCP, feeding in to regional co-ordination of the BREW programme.
- Supporting SCPnet in identifying, funding and commissioning R&D to further develop tools and analysis to support resource efficiency/SCP policy
- Providing first-stop support and training on using current tools (e.g. REEIO , REAP ) and information to promote SCP in the regions
- Assisting regions to use SCP tools and information to develop further regional policy and action e.g. in RES reviews, RSS development, action planning.
- Providing support services for the SCPnet Management Executive and Board
