SCPnet Conference 2008 - Day Two

Embedding SCP in the Future

The Sustainable Consumption & Production (SCP) philosophy is continuing to evolve, whilst gaining in momentum & stature. The speakers and demonstrations on Day Two introduced:

  • Advances in the current suite of tools
  • Developments of new methodologies

in terms of both data gathering and analytical & forecasting procedures, that could form a valuable part of SCPnet’s armoury for the future, helping to strengthen and reinforce the service to deliver the vision for SCPnet post 2010, by addressing current, on-going and future needs to:

  • Further define environmental limits
  • Identify & agree secondary objectives
  • Develop the methodology further to improve accessibility
  • Satisfy increasing demands with diminishing resources
  • Bridge the divide between analysis and policy
  • Support the development of the new Integrated Regional Strategy

The conference also posed the question, could SCPnet be a model for the UK and Europe?
